General information about treatment in Seoul, published by Forever Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Gangnam for international patients. Our own approach, physicians and prices are on the pages linked at the end.
Liposuction is usually a short operation, but the recovery shapes the result as much as the surgery does. For visitors flying in for treatment, knowing what each stage looks like makes it easier to plan the length of the stay and the flight home.
Expect swelling, bruising and soreness in the treated areas, along with some fluid leaking from the small incision points. A compression garment is put on straight after surgery and is worn almost continuously. Short, gentle walks are encouraged from the first day because they help circulation and reduce the risk of clots; heavy lifting and exercise are not.
Bruising peaks and then starts to fade. Most people can manage light activity and desk work towards the end of the week. A follow-up visit checks the incisions and the fit of the garment. This is the period most surgeons want an international patient to remain nearby.
Swelling settles gradually but unevenly — the treated area can feel firm or lumpy for a while, and numbness is common. The garment is usually continued for several weeks. Light exercise is reintroduced step by step, as advised by the surgeon.
The contour becomes readable as the last of the swelling resolves and the skin settles. This is when the result is fairly judged; assessing it earlier tends to underestimate it.
Long-haul flights after surgery carry a higher risk of blood clots. Wear the compression garment, keep hydrated, move around the cabin and follow your surgeon's advice on when it is reasonable to fly.
Ask before booking how follow-up works once you are back home, and who you can reach if a question comes up.
Send your dates and your concern on WhatsApp. Consultation is conducted in English, and a plan with an itemised quote follows the assessment.
